What about sun blocks?
Sun blocks are an important part of your skin care regimen. Bare Skin Rayblock is recommended as a daily part of your regimen, because it is good for your skin. However, it should not be relied on as a sun block, as it will not last very long as a blocking agent.
What is important is this.
1. A sun block will not give you more than 80% protection (there are exceptions, such as Titanium oxide and Total Block). So you will always get some UVA and UVB rays. Wear a hat!
2. A sun block does not last more than 2 hours; the higher the rating, e.g. 45, the longer it will last. This means you have to reapply the sun block at least every 2 hours. If you are using Retin-A or Bare Skin™ Rejuvenation Serum, apply it more frequently.
3. Dr. Bollmann recommends TiSilc as a sun block. We find this works very well and does not get in your eyes, causing tearing and irritation, as some other blocks can do.
What is the essential part of the Bare Skin™ program?
To be most effective, the products should be used as directed. But the essential element is Retin-A or Bare Skin™ Rejuvenation Serum. These should not be used together. The Rejuvenation Serum is a Bare Skin Retinol product, and has the advantage of causing less redness and inflammation than Retin-A. It can be obtained without a prescription, whereas Retin-A is a prescription product. It can be obtained from your doctor.
Can I just use the Retin-A or Rejuvenation Serum alone?
This is not advised, as the skin will become red and irritated. The Bare Skin™ program is designed to prevent this.
Will I always be red if I use the Bare Skin™ products?
Simply, No! Retin-A or Bare Skin™ Rejuvenation Serum, a strong Retinol product, can cause redness or irritation. This is not a bad thing, but rather it is something we are trying to achieve. This means the skin is turning itself over faster, correcting any problem and making it healthier. Once the correction is achieved, then the process is slowed down to maintain the beauty and restoration of the skin.
In fact, you do not have to get red at all; just use the above products at a slower rate. But remember, the more the reaction, the better and faster the correction. We advise you choose the amount of products you use to fit your own schedule.
What about a moisturizer?
Moisturizers are not good for the skin. Whenever someone says, "I have sensitive skin," it is usually because they are abusing moisturizers. What constitutes moisturizer abuse? Using a moisturizer every day.
This is actually bad for the skin, and does not add any "moisture" to the skin. The best moisturizers are Retin-A (or Bare Skin™ Rejuvenation Serum) and drinking water.
Dr. Bollmann recommends moisturizers only for dry skin. When you are on the Bare Skin™ program, your skin will be plenty moist. Your skin might be dry if you are in the sun for a long time, or if you get wind-burned. Only then should you use a moisturizer, and then infrequently.
Can I wear makeup?
Make-up is allowed, but eventually you might not need it at all.
Will I peel?
You may have small flaking present. If this is bothersome to you, consider a microdermabrasion. This will cut down on the flaking.
Which program is best for me?
This should be on an individual basis, depending on skin type, thickness, needing to be in the public eye constantly, etc. The program should be designed with your wishes in mind, and might include Microdermabrasion or a Blue Peel.
Will it work?
We can promise you that your skin will feel and look better, and will be healthier.
How much cream should I use?
You should use enough cream to cover the entire face.
Can I put it on my neck?
Remember, the face has more adnexal structures and is thicker than the neck. It is also very forgiving, while the neck is not. You can treat the neck area, but much less frequently and smaller amounts (of Retin-A). The other creams will not hurt the neck, including the serums and Rayblock. Please do not burn the neck area.
My friend was given different creams than me. Why?
Each person is different and has different goals and skin types. Your program is designed for you.
What if I don't want the full program? Can I use some of the creams individually?
Yes you can. The Cleanser, Toner, Perfect Tone, Blender, Anti-Aging Serum, Natural Young C Serum, Night Cream, Soothe, Moisturizer and Rayblock all can be used individually. The use of Retin-A is not recommended unless you are on the full program.
Naturally you will not get as good results as if you are not using the products as recommended.
When should I go on the Maintenance program?
Again, this will vary with the individual. But on a general basis, you should do at least one skin cycle (six weeks) before switching to maintenance.
Why not put collagen in creams?
Collagen does not penetrate the skin. It only temporarily hydrates and puffs skin out, but this doesn't last.
Why should I use Anti-Aging Serum for acne?
Anti-Aging Serum has potent anti-inflammatory ingredients to help heal and prevent acne, in addition to anti-aging ingredients.
