What Foods Help The Skin Glow?

Many foods contribute to healthy, glowing skin. Here are some of the best:
  • Fatty fish: Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which help keep skin thick, supple, and moisturized. They also reduce inflammation and may protect against sun damage. Salmon is good to have once per week. I would advise avoiding bottom-feeder fish. My favorites are salmon, cod, and halibut.
  • Avocados: Packed with healthy fats that can help keep skin hydrated and firm.
  • Fruits: Rich in vitamins and antioxidants that fight free radicals and protect skin from damage. Examples include berries, oranges, tomatoes, and mangoes.
  • Vegetables: Like fruits, vegetables are loaded with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Especially beneficial are leafy greens, red and yellow peppers, and broccoli.
  • Nuts and seeds: Provide healthy fats, vitamin E, zinc, and selenium, all of which are important for skin health.

In addition to incorporating these foods into your diet, drinking plenty of water is essential for keeping skin hydrated and glowing. Dehydated skin looses plumpness and might show fine wrinkles.

Here are some additional tips for healthy skin:

  • Limit processed foods, sugary drinks, and unhealthy fats. Remember, limit alcohol - it contains sugar.
  • Get enough sleep.
  • Manage stress.
  • Don't smoke.
  • Protect your skin from the sun by wearing sunscreen every day, even on cloudy days.
  • Don’t use excess make-up; this can damage your skin and promote acne.
  • Don’t burn your skin, as in sun-bathing.
