How Can I Reduce The Amount Of Wrinkles On My Skin?

by Charles Bollmann August 06, 2013

The biggest cause of wrinkles is, of course, the aging process. Then next is photodamage, or damage due to the sun's rays (UVA/UVB).

So the best way to avoid wrinkles is to avoid the sun. This is not very practical, especially since some sun is good for you. But when you are in the sun, use a sun block of at least 40 spf.

Prevention is important. Learn to decrease frowning; develop relaxation techniques, and meditate. Wear sun glasses to avoid glare which can cause wrinkles around the eyes.

After age 30, the skin begins to decrease laying down collagen. This can be stimulated with a good skin care routine, which should include retinol or Retin-A, which will help wrinkles. See @Bare Skin Care Program for Wrinkles.

And as women approach menopause, consider the use of bio-identical hormones. Estrogen is only second to Retin-A in removing wrinkles in the skin.

To remove wrinkles, many other techniques are available, including lasers and chemical peels.

First, the answer is yes, retinol can make wrinkles worse, especially when you first start using it. What is happening is a drying effect, and one can get epidermal sliding from separation from the dermis. But this is temporary, and will eventually end up tightening the skin around the eyelids, provided you are using a potent retinol preparation.
